The official constitution and rules of Buds' Books
We, the members of Buds' Books, in order to form a more perfect book club, establish reading justice, ensure domestic literary tranquility, provide for the common discussion, promote the general knowledge, and secure the blessings of great literature to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Budstitution for Buds' Books.
Buds' Books is a monthly book club dedicated to fostering a love of reading, encouraging thoughtful discussion, and building a community of readers who challenge themselves with diverse literature.
We believe in intellectual curiosity, respectful dialogue, commitment to our reading goals, and supporting one another in our literary journey.
Active members are expected to participate in monthly book selections, complete the books within the designated timeframe, and contribute to discussions and reviews.
Members are responsible for acquiring their own copies of books, maintaining respectful discourse, and contributing to the collective reading experience through reviews and participation.
Members maintain good standing by regularly completing books, participating in reviews, and upholding the values of the club.
Books are selected through a democratic process where members submit suggestions. The selection rotates among members to ensure diverse literary choices.
Each book is assigned a one-month reading period with clearly defined start and due dates. Members are expected to complete the book within this timeframe.
Selected books should be intellectually stimulating, accessible to all members, and represent diverse genres, authors, and perspectives.
Members are encouraged to submit thoughtful reviews including ratings, written reflections, and constructive feedback on their reading experience.
All discussions must be respectful, constructive, and focused on the literary merit of the work. Disagreement is encouraged but should remain civil and substantive.
Reviews may contain spoilers. Members should be mindful when reading reviews of books they have not yet completed.
Members are responsible for obtaining their own copies of selected books through purchase, library loan, or other legal means.
The club may collect optional fees for special events, group purchases, or administrative costs. All fees are voluntary and will be clearly communicated.
Any collected funds will be used solely for club purposes and members have the right to request financial transparency reports.
Amendments and precedents that guide the interpretation and application of the Budstitution.
All decisions, rulings, and interpretations made by the club regarding these rules shall be recorded as case law and serve as precedents for future situations. Precedents may be referenced in disputes or questions of interpretation.
Additional amendments and case law precedents will be added as the club evolves and new situations arise.
This Budstitution shall take effect upon ratification by the founding members of Buds' Books and shall serve as the governing document for all club activities and decisions.
